MUNDA is ORI's expansive practice — site-specific installations, environmental art interventions, ecological design, and civic technology. Work is developed through commissions, research, and grants, often in dialogue with coastal ecologies and public space. Based in Florida; available for collaboration nationally.
REEF RESEARCHReef Research is an ongoing ecological design project by ORI: a deployable artificial oyster reef substrate built from concrete chainmail. Designed to restore Florida estuarine habitat, with prototypes deploying in Tampa Bay in 2026.
HOLLOWCAMHollowCam is an open-source survey camera designed by ORI for field biologists. Slim enough to enter sub-inch tree-cavity openings at 50-foot heights, paired with a companion web app for species tagging and live monitoring of endangered species habitat.
ECOLOGICAL ARCHITECTUREEcological Architecture is design and research assistance contributed by Kate Andersen to PANORAMMMA in Mexico, under design director Maika Palazuelos. Architectural and urban design rooted in ecological principles.
THE SCROLLThe Scroll is a civic-tech web app challenging players to distinguish real images from AI-generated ones. Designed and built by Kate Andersen, exhibited at The Vestibule in Seattle in 2025. Live at thescroll.app.
VESSELSVessels is an experimental design research project by ORI exploring bio-based, biodegradable materials for funerary objects. Adapted from Midushi Kochhar's recipes, each form contains native plant seeds intended to germinate as the vessel decomposes.
